Microsoft’s next-generation game console is more than just a box for playing video games. Available later this year, the Xbox One is an “all-in-one entertainment system” that will cater heavily to TV watchers, as well as gamers. The rather gigantic box with PC architecture inside and three operating systems that enable it to be “instant on.” The new Xbox UI borrows heavily from Windows 8’s flat design, while bringing over features including multitasking (two apps at once) and Skype. Each Xbox One will come bundled with a new, more accurate and advanced version of Kinect, which will be capable of sensing things like a person’s heartbeat just by looking at them. Voice control will be crucial to the Xbox One, as will a new refined controller with built-in “impulse triggers” that vibrate to the slightest action.
