Samsung Galaxy S4 Active

The Korean giant isn’t content with just one flagship smartphone. In addition to the Galaxy S4, the company’s also releasing the Galaxy S4 Mini, and this summer the Galaxy S4 Active. The GS4 Active is built for the rugged, outdoor type. The GS4 Active’s specs remain mostly the same as the GS4 — 5-inch 1080p display, 1.9GHz quad-core processor, 16GB of storage, 2GB of RAM and a 2,600mAh battery — but the outside’s been reinforced from 7.9mm to 9.1mm to be water and dust resistant. Samsung claims the GS4 Active can be submerged three feet under water for 30 minutes. While the camera’s sensor has dropped from 13 to 8-megapixels, the GS4 Active will have a special “Aqua Mode” for getting better underwater photos. The buttons just below the screen are also physical ones now; for easier underwater use. We expect the GS4 Active to be able to take a hard drop on the rocks and survive.

The GS4 Active drops this summer in “Urban Grey, Dive Blue and Orange Flare.” Pricing is TBA.
