Leica X Vario

There’s a specific reason why people like German-made cars such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi: the company’s pay attention to details and take their time perfecting their products until they’re ready for release. The same applies for Leica’s new X Vario camera that packs a whole lot of power in a tiny body. Although the X Vario isn’t an interchangeable-lens camera, it does have a fixed 18-46mm lens, APS-C sized 16.1-megapixel sensor, 3-inch display, ISO 100-12500, 1080p HD video recording, built-in flash and a slew of buttons and dials for manual shooters.

As with all Leicas, the cost of acquiring the aluminum and magnesium camera isn’t for the faint of heart. At $2,850, you’d expect the X Vario to come with a built-in electronic viewfinder, right? Alas, it doesn’t have one. You’ll have to buy an EVF attachment (sold separately).
