Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Although Samsung’s been leading the big smartphone charge with its Galaxy Note and Galaxy Mega devices, Sony is leaping into the same waters with the Xperia Z Ultra, an Android smartphone with a whopping 6.4-inch 1080p display. At just 6.5mm thick, the Xperia Z Ultra is incredibly thin; easily one of the thinnest smartphones in the world. As with almost all of Sony’s flagship mobile devices, the Xperia Z Ultra is also water and dust resistant.

Inside of this svelte device is 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 16GB of storage (expandable via MicroSD card), 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera (not LED flash) on the back and a 3000mAh battery. Sony even made room for holes to attach mobile charms (something that’s very popular in Europe and Asia).

No word on pricing, but Sony is targeting the Xperia Z Ultra for a Q3 release in black, white and purple. How large is too large? We’ll find out later this year.
