In terms of ruggedness, we have yet to come across a phone that can withstand as much abuse as the Casio G’zOne Commando. Keeping up with the times, Casio’s upgraded the smartphone with the new “4G LTE” model on Verizon. Updated specs include a slightly larger screen (4-inches) that works with any pair of gloves, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor NFC, dual front speakers for improved audio clarity outdoors, new 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p HD video capture, 1.4-megapixel front camera and faster data speed.

Of course, the hallmark of Casio’s G’zOne Commando lineup is its virtually indestructible construction. Casio says the Commando 4G LTE is just as built with a construction that “meets military standards with 810G certification, meaning it can withstand drops, shock, water and dust.”

The only real downsides to the Commando 4G LTE we can think of is its disappointing 480 x 800 resolution display — a big letdown considering other rugged smartphones with much better displays are available — and the fact that it’s running the old-as-molasses Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and not the Jelly Bean.
