On a recent trip to the Super (Duper) Market in New York City we were introduced to Askinosie Chocolate. Askinosie is a small batch, bean to bar chocolate maker that sources 100% of their beans directly from farmers around the world. Askinosie profit shares with the farmers, giving them a stake in the success.
We picked up the Dark Milk Chocolate + Ancho Chile & Pistachio CollaBARation™ Bar that is made with salt flakes, pistachios, goat milk chocolate, and chilies. This bar was created in collaboration by Katharine Kagel, founder and chef at the James Beard Award-Winning restaurant, Cafe Pasqual’s. This delicious salty, sweet, and spicy chocolate bar starts with a sweet crunch and is followed by the ancho chile heat. Peter Cruz is the lead farmer from Davao, Philippines who harvests the beans for this bar.
