Most of our Style 101 guides have focused on learning about how to look better, by understanding how to match shirts to finding the right pair of sunglasses for your face shape. However, this tip from PrimerMagazine is one that every guy (or gal) could find useful: how to restore a of faded jeans.

Instead of tossing your faded jeans out when they’re worn out, PrimerMagazine explains how you can revive them using common $5 Rit dye that you can buy at Target.

The instructions are fairly simple: mix the dye (half a bottle per pound of fabric) into a bucket of hot water. Then dip your jeans into the mixture and stir using a scrap of wood (or a plank) and let it soak for about an hour. To ensure the dye is consistent, it’s recommended you stir them in the dye every 10 minutes. After an hour, you can remove the jeans and run it under cold water until the dye’s not bleeding anymore. Finally, wash the jeans (flipped inside out) in a washing machine and leave to air dry.

As you can see in the pic above, the result looks pretty good. If you’ve got time over the weekend, this might be a good way to spruce up some old jeans in prep for Spring weather.
