Withings Activité Fitness Watch

The problem with today’s fitness tracking bands is that it’s quite obvious what they are on your wrist. Devices such as the Nike Fuel Band and Fitbit are often rubbery and ugly, or they’re trying to be a smartwatch (Samsung Gear Fit), but failing to be good at it.

Withings’s Activité is a fitness tracker that resembles a traditional watch — and it’s beyond handsome. Designed by Paris-based creatives, the Activité tells the time with digital precision with its Swiss Made Connected Movement. The watch pairs with your smartphone via Bluetooth LE to automatically adjust its hands to the right time zone you’re in.

Its second dial tracks the percentage of activity you’re doing per day and you can view more advanced stats on the Health Mate app. More specifically, the watch’s built-in accelerometer tracks steps, distance, calories, swimming tracking, sleep monitoring, and even has a silent vibration for an alarm and when a goal is completed.

Tapping the glass face also triggers certain actions such as checking the alarm clock with a double tap. Furthermore, the Activité is water-resistant up to 15 feet and runs on a button cell battery that reportedly lasts a full year.

Nothing was overlooked with the Activité in terms of design. Withings says the fitness watch was inspired by French artisans. The case is cut from Swiss-made 361L stainless steel, its face constructed from an unbreakable and scratch-proof sapphire glass, its strap made from naturally tanned smooth French Calf leather, and its dials sporting a haute couture finish.

Withings pegs the Activité for a Fall launch for $390.
