Samsung’s finally getting into the metal smartphone game, kinda. The newly minted Galaxy Alpha is the first Samsung smartphone with a metal frame and chamfered edges. The smartphone has a 4.7-inch (1280 X 720 resolution) Super AMOLED display, Quad 1.8GHz + Quad 1.3GHz processor or a 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, finger print reader, heart rate monitor, and 1860mAh battery. Its back, however, is still a removable plastic cover (for that battery.)

On the back is a 12-megapixel camera with LED flash. On the front 2.1-megapixel shooter. Equally impressive is the device’s ability to show HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography in real-time.

As for OS: the Galaxy Alpha will run Android 4.4 KitKat with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI.

Samsung hasn’t announced pricing yet, only saying the Galaxy Alpha will make its debut in Russia.
