Kobo Auro H20 Waterproof E-reader

The Amazon Paperwhite is my favorite e-reader of all time. It’s perfect except it’s not waterproof, which means you have to be extra careful when taking it to the beach or reading it in bathtub. The Kobo Aura H20 has no such problem — it’s waterproof.

Kobo’s Auro H20 is IP67-certified; waterproof enough that it can be submerged in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. That should be long enough to retrieve it from the tub, pool, or from the toilet.

It has a 6.8-inch Carta E Ink display (1430 x 1080 resolution) and 265 pixels per inch, which bests the Kindle Paperwhite’s 6-inch 212 pixels per inch display. The Auro H20 e-reader has 4GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card slot). And just like the Paperwhite, it has its own backlit lighting system called ComfortLight for reading in the dark.

Pre-orders for the waterproof e-reader start September 1 Kobo’s website and store availability on October 1 in the U.S. Canada, UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands.
