Kikkerland Tweet Clock

Kikkerland has long been one of our favorite companies making inventive, creative, and useful items. We’ve featured many of their items, from their USB 5-in-1 Cable Charger Adapter to Graffiti Cocktail Shaker. Kikkerland’s Tweet Clock is a simple, yet creative alarm clock. The Tweet Clock is seven inches in height (When properly standing up), and four inches in depth. This mechanical clock requires no batteries and needs to be wound once every 3 days. The dial has red and black numerical markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock and bullets for the other hour markers. Once this clock is running, you’ll notice the black sword hands for the hours and minutes and a red arrow hand for seconds. The sub dial near 12 o’clock is used for the alarm which is set on the back of the clock. There is a feather on the top right of the clock which wavers when the alarm goes off. The bird chirping sound is realistic and not annoying.

We like mechanical clocks for the close relationship they have to the watches we wear everyday. They haven’t been hit by the Quartz Crisis and there was careful attention to detail when building a mechanical clock. The downside of using a mechanical clock is that it’s easy to forget to wind it up or even to over wind it (Which it can break). One of our prized possessions is a Jaeger-LeCoultre Art Deco alarm clock that is mechanical and is absolutely gorgeous, but on more than one occasion we’ve forgotten to wind it up.
