Captain Boots by Thursday Boot Co.

It’s cold, it’s winter, and it’s boot season. We’ve been intrigued with Thursday Boot Co. since their Kickstarter project in October of 2014 and are featuring them this season. This company came to fruition out of frustration of the big differentiation between work boots and fashion boots, poor construction, and high prices. To combat these issues, they make their boots with quality leather, utilize Goodyear welt construction, and fit a rubber outsole that adds extra grip.

The Captain Boots by Thursday is one of their 3 models (That come in a variety of colors). This boot has a similar design aesthetic to Wolverine’s 1000 Mile, Alden’s Jumper Boot, and Red Wing’s Beckman. For the Captain Boot, there are a total of 10 eyelets, full glove interior lining, premium wax laces, and cork-bed midsole.

Now for the good stuff, the leather that is used for the upper on the boot is their own Thursday Chrome Leather (In partnership with Le Farc Tannery in Mexico) and Horween’s Chromexcel. Thursday’s leathers utilize natural oils and are not painted. Just like a great watch dial, over time, the leather will start to have a patina and will mature making each boot unique.

We’ve talked about Goodyear welt construction and it’s important to note that all Thursday’s boots use this construction. The waterproof seal, durability and ability to resole are crucial.

Thursday Boot Co. has great designs are a steal. At half the cost of most boots in their field, these boots are a slam-dunk. Since this is a relatively new company, we are not sure on the longevity of the Goodyear welt construction and if you need a resoling every 3 months or every 12 months that is a huge difference. With great designs and construction, it’s hard to pass these up. These boots fall into the category of: quality, fashion, work, and budget friendly. The only one boot so far.
