The sneaker rain shoe is here. Enter the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Rubber shoe. Is it boring to have a 100 year old design refreshed every year? Nope. All Stars have been worn forever. There isn’t a resurgence in All Stars, because they were always in. The Rolex Paul Newman Daytona watch which is the most collectible watch ever can’t even say its been “In style” throughout it’s lifetime. It’s almost unfathomable to think of a piece of clothing that has literally stood the test of time for nearly a 100 years.

Converse has recently come out with a few updates to the All Star, one being a waterproof model. The All Star Rubber is made with canvas backed rubber for water replellency. The interior has a wool lining for warmth. One great feature that is seen in military boots or hiking boots is a gusseted tongue which means the tongue is sewn into the upper, so there isn’t space for water to come in. These shoes start at $65 and come in 5 different colors: black, gloom green, thunder (grey), casino (bright red), and cyan space.

We’re not expecting the most resilient rain shoe, but one that will keep out water from the top at the tongue, all the way to the sole. At under $70, this is by far the cheapest and best looking rain shoe out there. Just don’t expect this shoe to do as well as L.L. Bean Boots, Hunter, or Tretorn rain boots.
