Baohaus and Eddie Huang

Asian hipster cuisine is the talk of NYC with Danny Bowien, David Chang, Andy Ricker, and Eddie Huang leading the charge from baos to pig feasts. Baohaus by Eddie Huang is the most accessible restaurant out of the group with nearly fast food cuisine. Huang’s baos are made with quality ingredients from braised all natural Berkshire Pork Belly to Snake River Farms steak. We like the Coffin Bao Fried Chicken, as it looks like the front of a Pontiac or coffin, filled with salty and sweet fried chicken. Each bao is a play on contrasting flavors from sweet, spicy, salty, and umami. The hip-hop influenced Huang doesn’t consider himself a chef, but an entrepreneur, and with a show on Vice, a book titled Fresh of the Boat, and occasional clothing lines, we don’t doubt him.
