Take the Black Stout is the second installment of Ommegang Brewery’s Games of Thrones beer series to be released this fall. Ommegang is a New York brewery, known for their Belgian style beers and the first Games of Thrones release, Iron Throne was a delicious blonde ale. The black stout is inspired by the Night’s Watch, a military order dedicated to defending the wall on the northern border of the seven kingdoms that protects the realms of men. This beer is made with caramel, chocolate, and roasted barley malts. The hops that are used are northern brewer and columbus and additional flavoring comes from licorice and star anise. The aroma is of chocolate and earthiness followed by a rich malty and roastiness taste. We can’t wait for this TV show and beer pairing.
