We’ve had a week long love affair with Founders Brewing Company. Their session ales are great, but their strong ales are sublime. In warm weather we tend to be fixated on light beers, when the full bodied beers pack so much flavor that we miss in the light ones. We were able to grab a few Founders Devil Dancers and were impressed with the strength and flavor of this beer. At 12% ABV and 112 IBU the Devil Dancer is like drinking a scotch on the rocks.
- Appearance – Dark amber, nearly red
- Aroma – Hops all the way, strong, earthy, and citrus
- Taste – Hops first, dry, but smooth creating a creamy mouthfeel. Similar to a barley wine
- Overall – 8/10 – Extremely flavorful, but slightly too much. Hop heads will go crazy over this beer, while the average drinker will think this is liquor.
