The Nikon 1 J4 is the followup to last year’s J3. With fierce competition on every side (Sony A5000 and Olympus OM-D E-M10, to name two), Nikon had no choice but to upgrade its mirrorless camera.
The J4 packs an 18.4-megapixel AF CMOS sensor, Expeed 4A image processing engine, ISO 100-12800, 1080p HD video recording at 60 frames per second, 105 focus points with phase-detection AF, 171 points with contrast-detection AF and 20 frames per second shooting on burst mode (60 frames when subject focus is locked). The camera also has built-in Wi-Fi. Around back is a 3-inch 1037k-dot touchscreen. Whereas the J3 and its predecessors took SD cards, the J4 uses microSD cards.
Nikon hasn’t revealed pricing or a release date yet. However, we do know the J4 will come in four colors, including orange and silver.
