Action cameras may be all the rage — every company seems to sell one now — but GoPro will always be the most popular. The company’s newly announced HERO4 comes in two models: HERO4 Black and HERO4 Silver.
The HERO4 Black offers “cinema-quality” 4K video at 30 frames per second, 2.7K video at 50 frames per second, 1080p at 120 frames per second, and 12-megapixel stills. Rolling shutter has also been “virtually eliminated” and low-light performance has been improved, according to GoPro. The HERO4 Black also captures sound with 2x more dynamic range than previous GoPro cameras. The HERO4 will set you back $499.
Stepping down a level is the $399 HERO4 Silver. This little guy is, silver-colored instead of black (in case you didn’t realize), and shoots 4K video at 15 frames per second, 2.7K at 30 frames per second, 1080p at 60 frames per second, and 12-megapixel images. The biggest difference between the HERO4 Silver and the Black is that this one has a built-in touchscreen on the back. Kinda crazy the high-end model doesn’t have one as well.
Both cameras have built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 1160 mAh batteries, and take microSD card.
Both HERO4 action cameras will be available on October 5.
