Along with today’s Nexus 6 announcement, Google also took the wraps off the Nexus 9. Designed by HTC, the Nexus 9 is Google’s new flagship tablet running the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The metal tablet with soft touch rear features an 8.9-inch IPS display with a 2048 x 1536 (4:3 aspect ratio instead of 16:9), 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, Kepler GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of internal storage, LTE, 802.11ac 2×2 (MIMO), NFC, Bluetooth 4.1 and a huge 6700 mAh battery.

The rear camera is an 8-megapixel f/2.4 shooter with autofocus and LED flash and the front is a 1.6-megapixel f/2.4 lens. And since this is an HTC device, the front features dual front-facing speakers with HTC BoomSound for loud and clear audio.

With the powerful NVIDIA CPU and GPU, Google says the Nexus 9 is the perfect tablet for work and play.

Pre-orders start October 17 with devices shipping shorting after. The Nexus 9 will arrive in three colors: Indigo Black, Lunar White, and Sand.

Price: $399 (16GB), $479 (32GB), $599 (32GB + LTE)
