Apple’s Retina display finally comes to the 27-inch iMac in stunning 5K resolution. For non-geeks, that’s 14.7-million pixels on the screen or 5120 x 2880 resolution; enough to edit 4K-resolution video and still have room for extra toolbars and timelines. Yea, the iMac with 5K Retina display has tons of pixels, but you won’t see any of them, just like how you don’t on an iPhone 4 (or later) and iPad 3 (or later).
The design is still remarkably thin — only 5mm thick at its edges — and there’s tons of performance to power the display. Specs start at a 3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor (Turbo Boost to 3.9GHz), 8GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM (user-replaceable!), 1TB Fusion Drive, AMD Radeo R9 M290X graphics chip with 2GB of DDR5 memory, FaceTime HD camera, stereo speakers, four USB 3.0 ports, SDXC card slot, two Thunderbolt ports, and an ethernet port. You’ll also find 802.11ac Wi-Fi inside. And of course it runs the new OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
The most beautiful computer in the world now has the most beautiful display, ever.
