Marty McFly fans probably pissed themselves in the pants when they heard Nike was producing real self-lacing sneakers. Dubbed the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0, the sneakers are a taste of the future of tech fused with footwear.
Like the Back to the Future II sneakers, the HyperAdapt 1.0 auto-lace when you put your foot in and the tightness can be adjusted via buttons near the sneaker’s tongue. Even cooler: the sneakers light up on the soles. The not cool part: the batteries needed to auto-lace them only work for about 2 weeks from a 3 hours charge.
Still, copping them on Nov. 28 could make you the illest dude on the block (or the biggest geek ever). You’ll apparently have to make an appointment to purchase a pair.
HyperAdapt 1.0 will be available in the U.S. at select Nike retail locations. Appointments to experience & purchase begin 11.28.16. pic.twitter.com/t3YVLa8Rsl
